LIVING WORD:
A YEAR WITH THE BIBLE
Sundays, 10:30 - 11:00 a.m. | Coburn Hall
We are embarking on an exciting journey together
this year: to read the Bible together as a parish!
Every parishioner is challenged to read The Path,
an engaging and accessible abridged version of
the Bible in 24 chapters. In addition to the version
published for adults, there is also a Family Story-
book perfect for all ages. The first 150 parish-
ioners who pledge to read on Education Sun-
day will receive a free copy! To learn more, visit
stjames.org/LivingWord.

sects with parenting and how we can help our chil-
dren claim their faith for themselves.
A Book for the Whole Family

Kick-off our parish-wide exercise “Living Word:
a year with the Bible” exploring creative ways to

Talking About Grief and Loss

On All Saints’ Sunday, as the Church remembers
those who have died, we explore ways to talk
openly and effectively about grief and loss with our
children.
New Year, New You?
Jan. 7
New Year’s Resolutions are our favorite things to
make, break, and complain about each year. We’ll
talk about our priorities for the coming year and
how we might live into them as people of faith.
BAPTISM PREP
Upcoming Baptisms: Nov. 5 · Jan. 7 · Feb. 11 · Apr. 8 · May 20
By Baptism, we are joined to Christ and made full members of his body, the Church. At baptism, we
make promises about how we will live our lives as followers of Jesus, and God promises us forgiveness
of our sins and new life in the Holy Spirit. At St. James’, we baptize adults and children, with parents
and godparents making promises on behalf of small children. If you (or your child) are ready for baptism,
contact the Rev. Zachary Thompson to begin a conversation. A series of classes led by the clergy and
fellow parishioners will help to further prepare you to make the commitment of baptism.
ST. JAMES’ 101
Sundays, 12:30 p.m.
Sept. 24 · Nov. 19 · Jan. 21 · Mar. 11 · May 20
This luncheon is offered as a first step for people to become members of our parish. Get to know the
clergy and staff, discover ways to get involved, and learn what membership at St. James’ means! (Child-
care provided with an RSVP.)
