New Music Review Here are the best songs and artists from the last few months By Mike Singleton Chieftain Staff Top Rap Songs Army (by SahBabii) 8/10 on the heat scale “Army” has everything you could want in a rap song: hard beat, great tone. It’s a song you can vibe to cruising down Lahser. Shake It Up (by Trippie Redd) 7/10 “Life’s a Trip,” another recent installment by Trippie Redd, fea- tures “Shake It Up,” the best song off this newly released album. Fire beat, energetic fl ow, truly a banger to listen to. Drip Too Hard (by Lil Baby & Gunna) 9/10 A recent single by Lil Baby and Gunna, this is not the fi rst time this duo has collaborated, and they never disappoint. This sin- gle is sure to break into the charts, unfurling a somber harmony and hard bass: “Drip too hard, don’t stand too close.” Top Hip-Hop Songs Love Lies (by Khalid & Normani) 7/10 Another great installment by Khalid and Normani, with great vocals and cherubic harmony. This song is breaking the billboard. Girls Like You (by Maroon 5 Feat. Cardi B) 10/10 Truly heat, this song should be No. 1 on everyone’s playlist. The listener gets the best of both worlds, with rap and pop clashing together to make this banger. This has been on repeat on every radio station for the past month. There should not be a soul in Bloomfi eld that has not listened to this song. In My Feelings (by Drake) 10/10 Drake has been dropping heat lately. Not usually known for Pop, the artist clearly has ventured into a new playing fi eld. This song has soothing lyrics and a sizzling beat. This is a banger that will get any party started. “Kiki, do you love me?” Underrated Artists 1. Kanye West 2. Lil Skies 3. Sheck Wes 4. J. As everybody knows, Kanye is not afraid to speak his mind in any way, shape, or form. Last Saturday on “Sat- urday Night Live,” Kanye had Kanye West a brief monologue at the end of the show about being bullied for his support of Donald Trump. While I have no problem with the man telling it like it is, I have a major problem with him LYING ABOUT DROPPING HIS NEW ALBUM. PLEASE. PLEASE DROP “YAHNDI!” West’s new album was supposed to be released just before -- and then just after -- his SNL appear- ance. Now his says wife wait until November. After being on such a hot streak with his solo album and other proj- ects he produced, we are itching for more. Kanye always preaches about listening to the future generation. Well, Kanye, the kids are here for the music. That is all. Drop it. O C T O B E R 2018
