CHEMISTRY AND MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY | 11
Throughout the whole of Year 4 you will undertake a significant independent research project under the
direct supervision of an academic member of staff and working in the research laboratories alongside
PhD and postdoctoral researchers, attending research group meetings and research seminars, and
developing the practical and professional skills demanded in a chemistry researcher.

JONATHAN DOLAN,
MChem GRADUATE
“The MChem course at Keele
gave me support in finding a PhD
and confidence that I had what
it takes. The mixed assessment
of reports, exams, lab practicals,
presentations and vivas proved that
I could effectively and efficiently
communicate my science to a range
of audiences. The laboratory classes
and the openness of the analytical
equipment (NMRs, IR, UV-Vis)
meant I was ready to from day one
for operation of the equipment and
analysis of my data.”
