Do you think this would help encourage the public to go out and see the Artist / Band live?
Rob – It would certainly encourage people to go out there and try find new bands or artists, as I know that when I look for new music, I don’t want to go out and buy their material incase I don’t like it! Which would then be a waste of money! But yes I say it would encourage the public to see them live, especially if they find a band they really enjoy listening to.
If this happened, do you reckon "Deluxe" albums would have a boost in sales?
Rob – Well that would depend on the amount of special features they would get. Also, that could have a downhill effect, an artist could deliberately make a standard CD with less songs or content, and then make the Deluxe CD what the standard CD should have been originally. I mean, I love it when I've purchased a Deluxe copy of a CD and I'm going through all the extra things that come with it
and it feels pretty special!
I have this Joe Satriani CD bundle, only 300 in the world were made, and its one of my prized possessions!
What are your thoughts on music piracy today, with all the downloads happening now? Do you think it’s a good thing and helping the artists, or do you think it’s ruining their careers, with not enough money being made?
Rob – Well im a bit divided to be honest with you, a musician should go out to play music and really love playing and performing, not because of the paycheck at the end of the gig you know?
