July 2022 THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER 9

Check out the new Market Cafe at the golf club

Happy Fourth of July ! Native Oregonians know that summer often doesn ’ t start until July 5 . ;) It certainly looks like that may be true this year . We still have so much to look forward to . Hopefully , everyone has had a
BALES & BORST chance to try the newly opened Market Café . This is yet another of the wonderful amenities Charbonneau has to offer — and not just for us golfers !
Speaking of much to look forward to , don ’ t forget about the upcoming Handicap Competition on July 14 and 15 . On Thursday , the 14th , there will be tee times in the morning and , Friday , the 15th , tee times begin at noon . We will celebrate the winners in the pavilion at the end of the last match .
Also , the CWGA Ladies Member / Guest event promises to be loads of fun ! The evening get-together will be held in the beautiful new Activity Center on Wednesday , July 27 . The tournament , lunch and awards will be Thursday , July 28 . The theme for this year is “ Where ’ s Waldo ?” There ’ s no need to search for team outfits ; they will be provided and included in your entry fee . Members may invite up to three guests . The game will be a two-person best ball . Sign-up information will be available through the CWGA online system . So , mark your calendars , invite
your guest ( s ) and get ready for a party ! There will be great golf , prizes , raffle baskets , food and games . See you there .
On June 2 we ( finally ) got to have our monthly scramble . The format - 666 - was fun ! We had 58 players followed by a wonderful lunch and general meeting . Nicole and her staff did a fabulous job preparing the lunch . Congrats to Ann Van Domelen and Deborah Ulrich , who won the twoperson event . We all enjoyed the chance to gather .
Our July rule reminder is regarding the drainage areas on the yellow course that have been repaired but are not yet fully recovered . Many of them have sand showing and have been deemed “ ground under repair ” by our head golf pro . As a result , players are asked to take free relief from those areas and treat them as “ no play ” areas . To take relief , you must find the nearest point of complete relief from the “ ground under repair ” and drop your original ball away from the “ ground under repair .” The drop must be within one club-length of that point , not nearer the hole .( See USGA Rule 16.1 ). Thank you for caring for our course .
Swing away . Enjoy the sunshine . And see you on the course !
