Rule of the month
Given our wetter weather this spring , players encountered situations where balls ended up in bunkers with standing water . Under the rules of golf , balls in the water encountered an “ abnormal course condition .” Players may take free relief under Rule 16.1b as long as the ball remains in the bunker , no closer to the hole . In this situation , as an option for a onestroke penalty , relief may be taken outside the bunker using the back-on-the-line relief option ( See Rule 16.1c in the Rules of Golf ). This situation is not to be confused with the twostroke penalty applied when the player chooses to move the ball from the bunker when no “ abnormal course condition ” exists .)

I just thought I had written my last CWA Villager article .
Last month I thanked the board and the members for their support during my years as president . So , not to repeat myself , I will give a very heartfelt “ Thank you ” to all of you .
The CWA board ended our year with a joint board meeting of the 2020- 21 and 2021-22 board . Although we were scheduled to be in Lee Harker ’ s beautiful yard and patio , we stayed
