Charbonneau Arts Association By CATHI MCLAIN
The matching grant program was a success Happy New Year !
Charbonneau Arts Association is excited to welcome 2022 with
MCLAIN the promise
of a biggerthan-ever Festival of the Arts at a new time of the year and with a beautiful new building in which to showcase art , music and Charbonneau itself . With the move from November to June 3- 5 , we ’ ll welcome snowbirds to the festival and increase attendance from our community . The timing allows us to become an official community partner with the Portland Rose Festival and to collaborate with Wilsonville Arts and Culture Council ( WACC ) in their Student Showcase that will expand us to both sides of the river . We ’ re planning for a return of the Opening Night Gala , with Silent Auction , champagne , music and artist displays . Since the event is a

fundraiser for high school art programs , the Gala and Silent Auction are key to our success .
Festival Organizing Chair John McLain and the committee are thinking big , with plans for a music stage , food and beverage from Village restaurants and possibly a food cart or two , art demonstrations in the new classroom , and increased display space for high school student art . He has articulated our goals this way :
Deliver on expectations :
A great experience for attendees of the festival ( a wow factor )
Significant net proceeds for grants to Wilsonville and Canby High Schools A public forum for student art A sales venue for artists and artisans
Assure satisfaction of important stakeholders :
Fine Artists Artisans Musicians Sponsors Friends of Charbonneau arts Teachers , Students ,
Parents WACC and Rose Festival Organizations that issued grants to CAA Charbonneau Country Club staff and board Strive for continuous improvement each year to maintain

Matching grant program success
This year ’ s end-of-year fundraising campaign has had exciting results , thanks to a few folks who offered to match donations , up to $ 2,000 . As I write this article , we are closing in on that $ 2,000 that will be matched . The generosity of Charbonneau residents is second-to-none , and we are grateful for all support . Many thanks to Wilsonville Carpet & Tile , who donated $ 500 on top of their $ 500 sponsorship of the festival . As always , we hope you ’ ll consider shopping with companies who sponsor and donate and to thank them for their support of Charbonneau Arts . The high school art teachers at Canby and Wilsonville High Schools are the happy beneficiaries of any extra funds we garner during this campaign .
