OB , play a provisional ball . Continue to hit your provisional ball until you determine if your original ball is in or out of bounds . If it is in bounds , abandon the provisional ball and continue playing the hole with your first ball . If your first ball is OB , you now will complete the hole using the provisional . A penalty of one stroke will be added to your provisional ball ’ s final score for this hole . If you cannot locate your initial ball and did not hit a provisional ball , you are required to return to the spot that the lost ball was stuck and hit another shot . Penalty assessed is stroke and distance as per USGA .
The new suggested local rule ( drop in fairway — two-stroke penalty ) is not in effect for Men ’ s Club play unless otherwise noted for a specific event . ( Amendment to local rules , Feb . 9 , 2021 ).
Posting scores :
With the introduction of Golf Genius , most of our Men ’ s Club events are scored and posted using this very powerful software . However , it is suggested that when you play a postable round and go to the GHIN app to post your score , that you take the time to post your score hole-byhole rather than posting a total score or the individual nine-hole scores of your 18-hole round . This way GHIN will make any adjustments , if needed , so that your score is accurately posted using the net double bogie adjustment currently in place . Your handicap chairman would be glad to explain this process if you need help . ( Amended to local rules , Aug . 15 , 2021 ).

Sunshine Service gears up for new home
May I say happy New Year ? By the time you all get the Villager , it will be 2022 already . I ’ m still getting used to living in a new century , much less a new
VEDDER year . How about
you ? With a little luck , the Sunshine Service might find ourselves situated in the brand new building within another month ! Once we ’ re all settled with our new storage space , perhaps we can have an open house to show you around — no need to climb steps anymore .
This past month has been a run on hip and knee replacements , not to mention foot surgery , minor heart corrections and so on . Each and every person received the best equipment we could provide you with , to aid in your recovery . ( Our love and good wishes come with each item , in case you didn ’ t realize ). I feel blessed to have such a wonderful group of volunteers that I work with ; it ’ s team work all the way through .
All names of those volunteers are in your directory ! As I ’ ve said before , pick a name you might recognize . Maybe a neighbor or a friend ? And if that one doesn ’ t answer or is too busy to help , just move down the list ! Remember though , we are not able to help on weekends due to the fact that CCC is locked up . However , I have a very small cache of equipment that I keep here at my house , for those evening and weekend mishaps . I have both types of walkers , a wheelchair , a shower bench , crutches , etc . that could be used in an emergency . If continual use will be needed , please return those to me and we ’ ll make a legitimate switch where you can be logged in to borrow what you need from our actual storage place .
Sunshine is a strange service where we don ’ t want to hear from you , but we ’ re here in case you need us . Stay well and set yourself up for a great 2022 .
