Nine people made hole-in-ones in 2021

Holes-in-one 2021
As published last month in the Villager , the Men ’ s Club reported that its members had
MASON made seven holesin-one during last year ’ s regular golf season . Well , it turns out that we missed two others and there were actually nine ! Congratulations to Richard McLeod who made a hole-in-one last July 8 on Green 5 and Claude Campbell who made one on Red 9 last September .
As a reminder , this year ’ s hole-in-one season runs from Nov . 1 , 2021 and ends Oct . 31 , 2022 which corresponds with the Men ’ s Club ’ s fiscal year . Your paid CMC
membership qualifies you for participation in the cash prize pool should you make a hole-in-one . Your hole-in-one must be made at the Charbonneau Golf Course , must be witnessed by a playing partner and must be reported to the Charbonneau Golf professional . The candidate for the award , the date , the course and hole and the witness ( es ) must be identified and signed off by the Charbonneau Golf professional in writing .
CMC schedule for 2022 golf season
The board will be reviewing and finalizing the 18-hole calendar at its January board meeting and it should be posted to the club ’ s website under the GOLF tab by mid-month . The basic schedule will be much like last season ’ s with regular Wednesday and Saturday play done via the Golf Genius system . For nine-hole players , Wednesdays and Fridays will continue to be regular play days with sign-ups handled by the Pro Shop .
A major issue we continue to assess is whether we can put the Invitational back on the schedule after not playing it for the last two years due to the pandemic and its associated impact for the tournament . The Men ’ s Club Board will make a final
decision at its January board meeting .
Team games
Based on an analysis done by Lee Zinsli of last year ’ s results and reviewed by the board , a decision has been made to modify the methodology for scoring team games . Instead of paying both net and gross for team games , all payouts for team games will be based on net scores only , no gross . For individual games , both net and gross scoring will continue to be used .
Rule of the month
Information provided by Mike Brown , Men ’ s Club Board committee chair . Normal local rules , updated March 23 , 2020 . These rules will always be in effect during score posting season !
Every ball counting toward a Men ’ s Club team game or individual score contest must be holed by each player ( No gimmes ).
All Men ’ s Club events are played under USGA rules .
When inclement weather conditions intercede and during winter months when scores are not posted in our region , the club will play local rules for preferred lies .
Preferred lies ( winter rules ) — Generally , when power carts are restricted to paths only , or during the time period of Dec . 1 through the end of February , and scores are not being posted to our local GHIN system , the preferred lies rule is in effect . Preferred lies are allowed in the general areas of the course ( i . e . includes fairway and the rough but doesn ’ t include penalty areas ). This rule allows for lifting and cleaning the ball , then placing your ball within one club length ( using any club except your putter ) from the balls original position , no closer to the hole than was the ball ’ s original position .
Red penalty areas — All water hazards are now considered penalty areas . Refer to USGA rules for dealing with your specific situation for both relief and penalty strokes assessed . During regular Men ’ s Club play or events , drop zones for shots into penalty areas are not to be used . Apply the appropriate USGA rule of golf drop method for your situation and then play your next shot . A penalty of one shot is accrued .
Ball out of bounds or lost — If you feel after hitting a shot that your ball may be
