Our volunteers keep our association thriving
This month ’ s Villager theme is service , no doubt , in honor of Veteran ’ s Day and the recognition of our many Charbonneau veterans in this issue

It also speaks to the many volunteer organizations that are active in Charbonneau , including the Charbonneau Arts Association ( CAA ), that rely on the service of their volunteers . At a recent golf board meeting , someone mentioned the 80 / 20 rule : 80 % of members just enjoy the fun , while 20 % do the work . I suspect this is true for most nonprofit organizations and community groups with lots of members . For Charbonneau Arts Association , which doesn ’ t have a membership base , its volunteer level is 100 %! Without our volunteer board and
Charbonneau Cup
The Charbonneau Cup is a seasonlong competition where points are earned for playing in Men ’ s Club events . Points are awarded based on the player ’ s individual score with a minimum of 10 participation points for everyone who plays in the game that day . At the end of the season , the top 20 in points standings are awarded monetary prizes and play for the Charbonneau Cup Championship .
This year ’ s Charbonneau Cup Champion is Gregory Benesh with a net score of 61 . Ford Morishita finished second with a score of 62 and Jim Toma , Bill Bray and Jim Oberg tied for third place with scores of 63 . Congratulations to everyone who earned the honor of playing in this event !
Rule of the month
It ’ s that time of year again when the weather turns wet and cool and the leaves start to fall . If you ’ ve ever played golf in the fall , you ’ ve likely heard of the “ leaf rule .” The rule essentially says that if a ball cannot be found in an area heavily populated with fallen leaves , then you get free relief . While this is not an official rule , it is used here in Charbonneau due to the number of deciduous trees we have on our three courses .
the army of volunteers who step up to help at the Festival of the Arts , there would be no association and no festival . We appreciate everyone ’ s service to CAA and to the other service organizations in Charbonneau .
Tickets are on sale for the next concert in our Charbonneau Arts Music Stage Series , on Dec . 11 , featuring Rebecca Hardiman and her Karen Carpenter tribute band in the Event Center dining room . The show will showcase the music from the Carpenters ’ bestselling Christmas Album , A Christmas Portrait , as well as many of their beloved hits . Rebecca has mastered the Karen Carpenter style perfectly . This will be a highlight to the holiday season , and an evening you won ’ t want to miss ! It also would be a great Christmas gift for your family and friends . Tickets are on sale for $ 30 each on the CAA website at charbonneauarts . org . A Patsy Cline Tribute Concert , originally scheduled for April 2023 , will likely be postponed until Event Center renovations are complete , probably June . Both of these concerts are sponsored by Lynda Huber , Equity Oregon Real Estate . 30 % of the proceeds from the concerts go toward our school grant funds , so Lynda ’ s support is invaluable .

Veterans ( and their spouses ) are invited to attend a
FREE breakfast , in the Country Club dining room , on
Friday , November 11 at 8 am Followed by a brief presentation at 9 am .
The Wilsonville Rotary will be preparing the food , which includes : pancakes , eggs , and make-to-order omelets . This hard-working group looks forward to honoring Veterans for their service to our country .
