GIRLS TENNIS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

GIRLS TENNIS PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES

ABBY HIETBRINK
Pella
One of several girls that stepped up for Pella this season. She was No. 2 for the Lady Dutch and would also qualify for individual state in singles but would lose her first round match and would have to medically forfeit her consolation match. Hietbrink then helped Pella reach the state team finals where she fended off championship point against Xavier to win her singles match in a super tiebreaker as the Lady Dutch would end up taking second.
POOJITA MUKADAM

CLAIRE SMOCK

PELLA
The lone returning piece of Pella’ s top six from their state title team in 2023, Smock stepped up as one of the top Class 1A girls on the court this spring. Individually, Smock would advance all the way to the state singles semifinals before falling and bouncing back in the third place match to take the bronze. Smock later reached the state team finals with the Lady Dutch, who would eventually fall to Xavier to finish second.
Fairfield
Despite a literal painful end to her season, having to forfeit a second-round consolation match to Trojan teammate Natalie Steele at the Class 1A girls state tennis tournament due to an ankle injury, Mukadam produced a breakthrough season by making it to state for the first time in three seasons. As Fairfield’ s top player, Mukadam went 10-2 winning a regional singles title with a straight-set win over Steele while helping the Trojans claim the Southeast Conference title and 18 wins as a team during the season.
