Arlington Parks : A Century of Playful Places , Open Spaces , and Smiling Faces
Arlington Parks and Recreation is proud to celebrate its centennial in 2024 , as the department commemorates the 100th anniversary of Meadowbrook Park and Meadowbrook Park Golf Course .
This year promises even more fun than usual , with a calendar full of special events , self-led activities , historical features , spotlights , giveaways and more ! The department is even capping off the year with the ribbon cutting of a new destination playground at Meadowbrook Park , scheduled to open this fall .

It ’ s been a busy summer for Strategic Initiatives ’ Neighborhood Engagement staff as they promoted the City ’ s programs at key community events , including the 2024 Homeownership Fair at Bob Duncan Center , the 2024 National Night Out Kick-Off at Parks Mall , the Hispanic Real Estate Brokers July meeting , and the West Citizen Action Network ( WeCAN ) August community meeting .
The department ’ s portfolio of community-based programs includes the Arlington Home Improvement Incentive Program , Block Party Trailer , 2025 Neighborhood Matching Grant Program , and the Neighborhood Leadership Network .
Residents are encouraged to join in celebrating the centennial by sharing your favorite parks and recreation memories and photographs on the centennial website . Whether it ’ s a memory from the family reunion you held at one of the parks , a picture of your kids touching home plate for the first time , or a selfie from your morning jog , send them in ! Your memories are our heritage – help keep the spirit alive .
