My Next Dog I Named Champ

While walking to the corner store with my mother, I saw a woman, her daughter, and her son playing with a beautiful puppy. I asked her if the puppy was a Shepherd or a Rottweiler. She told me it was a mix of both. Weeks ago I had just saw a Rottweiler on the TV show‘ The Flying Nun’. On this episode, someone had taught a dog how to steal purses. I knew it looked like a Doberman Pinscher but, it was much thicker. The next day in library class, I got a dog book to see if I could find the breed of dog it was. Moreover, to my surprise, I found a picture of a Rottweiler that looked just like the dog on the TV show. After school, I asked my mom if I could have a puppy like the one that was down the street. Mom talked it over with my grandmother who said yes. That evening I walked down the street to see if I saw the woman with the puppy and I did. I asked her how much it would cost to get a puppy from the same litter. She told me the cost was $ 25.00. I ran home to tell my mom, and she told me she would give me the money on Saturday. At 9:00 A. M. on Saturday morning I was walking down the street with $ 25.00 in my pocket to buy my next puppy who I would name Champ. When I arrived at the women’ s house, she explained the details to me. She told me she would take me with her but, I had to hide on the side of the house because if the owner of the puppies saw me they would not sell the puppy to me. I agreed and gave her my $ 25.00 for my new puppy. Arriving at the owner’ s house, I waited on the side of the house wondering why the owner could not see me. It seemed like it took a half an hour for my neighbor to return with my puppy. My mind began to wonder if I had been tricked out of my $ 25.00. Shortly afterwards, I saw my black and tan puppy coming towards me. I smiled and told the woman thank you. Then I grabbed my puppy, and held him tightly all the way home. When I got home we went to the store to get Champ a collar and leash. My life was complete because I got myself a new Champ to replace the old Champ I had lost.
What I learned from this is, some people judge others by the color of their skin 9
