Chartered by Sorors Clara Vesta Caldwell , Ida Taylor Jones , Bertha Mosely Lewis , Eva Overton Lewis , Geraldyne Hodges Major and Helen Kathleen Perry on November 5 , 1922 , as the first graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority , Incorporated ® in Illinois , Theta Omega Chapter has set the standard for outstanding service , scholarship and sisterhood in Chicago for 100 years .
Throughout its illustrious history , Theta Omega Chapter has produced four Supreme Basilei and countless members of the Directorate , International and Central Regional Committee Chairmen and Members .
CHAPTER HIGHLIGHTS
In November 2021 , Theta Omega Chapter began its centennial celebration in service with a National Pan-Hellenic coat drive partnership , a food drive with the Chicago Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity , Incorporated ( the first Black Greek-lettered fraternity graduate chapter in Chicago ), a donation of hundreds of books to a local elementary school , and a decadeold , continued tradition of awarding over $ 45,000 in college scholarships to African
American graduates of Chicago high schools and continuing scholars .
Upholding the Sorority ’ s eternal promise to provide “ Service to All Mankind ”, Soror Kimberley Egonmwan , Esq ., Centennial Basileus of Theta Omega shared , “ As we meet this milestone of this first century of service and move forward into the next , we must continue to create the partnerships necessary to effectively impact the ever-changing needs of our community to improve lives in Chicago .”
