“ Many of us were raised in homes where the question was , ‘ What are we going to eat tonight ?’ However , many children are faced with the question , ‘ Are we going to get to eat tonight ?’ Food insecurity has proven to be trauma-inducing and can follow a child into adulthood . We also have seniors who can ’ t afford to pay for medications , living expenses and food . Knowing I am leading a team of incredibly dedicated individuals driven to help remove the despair caused by food insecurity is more rewarding and satisfying than I can put into words .”
HEART OF ALABAMA FOOD BANK
Mission : To source , acquire and distribute nutritious food to those experiencing hunger and food insecurity throughout our region , so that families , seniors and children can thrive .
Brag Lines : The Heart of Alabama Food Bank sources and distributes food for 12 surrounding counties directly out of our Montgomery facility , in addition to addressing hunger and food insecurity for 35 counties in Alabama , which helps more than 217,000 individuals .
