“ We are bent on positively changing people ’ s lifestyles through health primarily , healthy lifestyle changes and giving information as to how that ’ s possible ,” she says .

Trained in the field of hospitality management , Malcolm knew from a young age growing up in Pt Fortin that she wanted to work in the field of health but kept it as a side job while building up her mainstream career in hospitality and then training and development . Her studies took her from St Joseph ’ s Convent , San Fernando to the University of the West Indies in both Barbados and The Bahamas but through it all she maintained a passion for alternative health methods .

“ Just Changing Lifestyles is around since 2005 but I have been doing alternative medicine for just about 25 years ,” she says .

“ I was really pushed to do this because Western medicine , in my opinion , killed my father 27 years ago . They , the doctors , gave him steroids because he had rheumatoid arthritis . He had synthetic joints in his wrist , and his fingers and he had to get gold injections in his knees every three months to help with the lubrication . There was extensive use of steroids over five years — and he was taking a handful , a cocktail of pills , including steroids , three times a day , every day for five years . With the technology that we have now we know that steroids use , that kind of steroids use , will kill you and they knew it because they told him you have five years to live and he lasted exactly five years .”

Her distress over this pushed her to study alternative medicine on an informal basis , working with a leading practitioner and then opening her JC Lifestyles clinic where she helped clients with detoxification and oxygenation procedures . After leaving Trinidad in 2010 she returned home two years ago and revived JC Lifestyles with a new vision and mission . She is also working towards completing proper training in the field of alternative medicine .

In order to promote the healthy lifestyle that she so believes in , Malcolm has taken on the thankful job of promoting health products that she believes really do work and help the individual . Some of those products include Laminine , Pro Argi9 +, NutraBurst and more .

“ Our focus is not on building products , it ’ s on transforming people ’ s lives , positively transforming people ’ s lives and the tools we use are these products that we have tried and tested and that we know work . And they work synergistically together even though they are from different companies .

not sure how many products they have but we deal with two of those products . We try to get the cream of the crop in the different companies that we use .”

Malcolm is particularly enthusiastic about one of her brands , Total Life Changes .

“ They produce one of the most amazing products that I have ever came across which is called Nutra- Burst . It ’ s powerful , it contains a range of vitamins and has all of the trace minerals plus there are phytonutrients in all different forms and fashions and amino-acids and so on . Because my blood type is predisposed to digestive issues , I find that this product in particular really works well with me .

“ And then there is the energy ! You see , once your body is digesting properly , you can get the nutrients from the products that you are eating . But if it ’ s not digesting , then you are just filling a hole really and giving the body more work to do because the body uses 25 percent of its energy to digest alone and another 25 percent to see . So imagine 50 percent of your energy is used for digestion and for seeing . So we have to help it out . That ’ s why a little shut eye helps , a power nap , that ’ s why it ’ s so amazing because you can save that 25 percent , you know help with the digestion .”

Malcolm is enthusiastic about what she does and has absolute belief in her products : “ I really want to get out there that when people feel that they have no hope , I want to tell them that there is hope . So after they have come from the doctors , because we have it all the time , they have exhausted the doctors and the MRIs and the scans and the so on and then they feel that there is no hope , but there is hope . There is hope with alternative medicine . There is hope with naturopathic options and we want to give them that hope .

“ Coming out of the experience with my dad , if somebody had told me back then that this was available , then I feel like my dad would still be alive . So I want to give people hope that there are things that can be done to change a situation and it ’ s very inexpensive .”

Highlighting one of her main products , Laminine , she says : “ Do you know the cost of , ballpark cost of , stem cell treatment now ? Upwards of $ 100,000 for one treatment . Laminine which is our flagship product , has stem cell technology in it . Because what it does is it wakes up adult stem cells and then goes to work to repairing . You hear clients talking about this is being repaired and that ’ s being repaired . That is in the hands of the average person .

“ If you buy it in the pharmacy , you might pay $ 350 , $ 380 , maybe $ 400 . When you buy one of the policies that I am involved with , it ’ s $ 380 for the smallest and you get that plus all the other benefits . But that ’ s not even the main part of it . The thing is we can test you to see where you are at , all along the journey you can come in for testing . And it ’ s not prohibitive , the price is not prohibitive at all . For us to do a pH test is $ 60 and we come and we sit with you and we ’ ll explain to you where on the scale it is and why it ’ s there and what possible causes there are and what your options are and then we would go and do a further test . When we do the blood test it pretty much tells us everything that ’ s going in the blood . And whatever we see there is fixable . We haven ’ t had a situation where we have seen something that we can ’ t fix .”

Although her office is located within the offices of DataAccess at Capital Plaza , Frederick Street , Port of Spain , Malcolm meets her clients wherever is convenient to them : “ I am very rarely in office and the reason for that is I like to meet clients where they are comfortable meeting . I ’ m the mobile unit so I say ok , let ’ s meet here or let ’ s meet wherever is comfortable for you because some people don ’ t have transport and so I would accommodate them by meeting them somewhere that ’ s central .”
