In Memory Of
Jan Brubaker
I
n January the Dowling Catholic Community
lost a beloved counselor and mentor. Mrs. Jan
Brubaker worked at Dowling for 26 years and
dedicated her time to making the school what it
is today. She impacted thousands of kids’ lives
throughout those short 26 years.
One of her biggest supporters was her husband,
Randy Brubaker. He has a heart just as big as hers.
Together they had two children, Christopher and
Patrick. Mrs. Brubaker and her family attended
Holy Trinity Catholic Church where they all lived
out their Catholic faith.
Whether it was a small or large issue, Mrs.
Brubaker knew just how to deal with it. She
handled things with such grace that you felt
comfortable going to her for anything. Not only
was she a mentor and counselor, but a friend to
many. Anyone in the school felt comfortable going
to her just to talk and chat. She welcomed
everyone with open arms and a happy smile.
While we all have an empty spot in our hearts
where her lively spirit filled it, we are grateful that
we had Mrs. Brubaker in our lives. The funeral
was held on Jan. 11 at Holy Trinity Catholic
Church. The ceremony was a beautiful service
honoring a beautiful person who truly will be
missed. *Article previously published in the Maroon Tribune.

“Mrs. Brubaker was AN amazing counselor, colleague and person. She will
have a special place in my heart as a parent of students she counseled, a colleague who demonstrated
ultimate professionalism, and a friend who was always there when needed.”
-Dr. Jerry Deegan, DCHS President
When I think of Mrs. Brubaker, I think of her caring and
compassion for students. Over the many years I worked with her, her
greatest source of pride was what she could do to help students succeed at Dowling
Catholic High School. She will be missed! -Dr. Jim Dowdle, Principal
“You never really leave a place you love... part of it you take with you,
leaving a part of you behind.” -(said by Mrs.
