Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Unit

A partnership with the Fort Worth Adolescent and Young Adult Coalition , the Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Unit ( AYA )
opened in May 2016 , providing an age-relevant treatment home for young adults ages 18-39 , diagnosed with cancer . The AYA nurse navigator serves as this specialized unit ’ s central member , following young cancer patients through the continuum of care from diagnosis through treatment and into survivorship .

Freddy L . Jones Healing Garden

Created as a place of respite and healing for families and visitors , the Freddy L . Jones Healing Garden was dedicated in April 2018 . The Garden is
located outside the Emergency Department and honors Freddy Jones , who served in leadership roles at Baylor All Saints for 20 years , including as president of the Foundation . Freddy was widely known for his compassion and tireless dedication to continually improving the quality of care for all who

26 entered the medical center ’ s doors .

ECMO

In 2017 , Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center began providing ECMO , extracorporeal membrane oxygenation ( ECMO ) for critically-ill patients with advanced heart and lung failure . In ECMO , blood is pumped outside of the body to a heart-lung machine that removes carbon dioxide and sends oxygen-filled blood back to tissues in the body . Generous donations funded the purchase of additional ECMO machines during the COVID-19 pandemic .

Robotic Surgery

In 2018 , the Foundation funded the purchase of a new da Vinci Xi surgical robot , adding the most up-to-date technology to our surgical suite . The da Vinci Xi allows physicians to perform minimally invasive robotic surgeries . The use of this technology often results in fewer complications , decreased length of stay , quicker recovery times , and less need for traditional pain medication .
