New Treatment for Advanced Heart Failure

In September 2020 , Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth was designated as a Magnet hospital by the American Academy of Nursing . This recognition is the highest national honor for nursing care . Magnet designation demonstrates the hospital ’ s commitment to superior quality in health care , with contented nurses at its center .

Arts in Medicine
With a seed grant from the G . R . White Trust , the Arts in Medicine program was established in December 2019 . The program incorporates music and the arts into the healthcare setting to create a healing environment and reduce stress for patients , families , visitors and staff . Artists-in-residence are professional musicians who perform live in public areas of the hospital . Additionally , a full-time Music Therapist , who provides bedside therapy with patients , was added to the Arts in Medicine team in 2022 .
The cardiac surgery team at Baylor Scott & White All Saints performed its first Left Ventricular Assist Device ( LVAD ) implantation on our campus in September 2021 . Acting as an artificial heart , the LVAD pumps blood throughout the body . This technology offers a longer , more active life for patients in advanced stages of heart failure who may not qualify for a heart transplant . A generous grant from the Sid W . Richardson Foundation funded the launch of this program .
Give to Change Employee Giving Campaign
In spring 2019 , the Give to Change employee giving campaign was established , aligning the employee giving campaign and United Way campaigns across the system . This annual campaign broadens our employee ’ s impact beyond Baylor Scott & White , allowing employees to make a positive change in the lives of patients , colleagues and our communities through
33 financial gifts and acts of service . In 2022 , Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth employees gave more than $ 275,000 to support the hospital ’ s areas of greatest need .

Graduate Medical Education
In February 2020 , Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center and the Texas Christian University School of Medicine announced they would join forces on an accredited Graduate Medical Education physician residency training program . The program will eventually train more than 150 physicians annually . These residencies will result in more physicians staying to practice in North Texas , alleviating the regional doctor shortage . With a lead gift from the Leo Potishman Foundation , the community has embraced this transformative program , giving more than $ 4 million to support its creation .
