Labor and Delivery Expansion

Since opening 14 years ago , Andrews Women ’ s Hospital has continued to experience enormous growth in births , delivering a record 6,500 babies in 2021 . Responding to the ongoing baby boom , four new Labor & Delivery Suites were constructed and opened in November 2021 . Andrews has a reputation for expertise in high-risk pregnancy and childbirth . By adding four new labor and delivery suites , the 23 rooms will help meet the community ’ s needs .

Lung Cancer Navigator

With Baylor Scott & White ’ s Comprehensive Advanced Lung Program and early detection screenings for lung cancer , a lung cancer navigator was added to the Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center to intervene at a much earlier stage of a patient ’ s cancer diagnosis , providing for a greater chance for survival . Patient navigators serve as advocates , educators and moral supporters to those fighting cancer . Today , the Center employs five nurse navigators and two certified lay navigators , all funded by philanthropy .

Nurse Residency Program

In late 2021 , the Nurse Residency Program expanded to train more new graduate nurses to help alleviate the nationwide nursing shortage . The program increased from approximately 50 graduate nurses to 180 annually at an additional annual cost of at least $ 2 million . Philanthropic support helped make this expansion possible with the $ 1 million matching grant from the Deena Jo Heide- Diesslin Foundation .

Maternal IV designation

In 2021 , the Paul and Judy Andrews Women ’ s Hospital was designated a level IV maternal care facility , the highest level of care designation awarded to hospitals

39 in Texas . A level IV maternal care facility provides comprehensive care for pregnant and postpartum patients , including the most complex medical , surgical and obstetrical conditions that present a high risk of maternal morbidity or mortality . Andrews Women ’ s Hospital is the only facility in Fort Worth to receive this designation .
