Faithful God
By Jeff and Laura Edwards, Office of the President
Anniversaries invite us to look back with gratitude, yet they also compel us to look ahead with faith.
In June, One Mission Society( OMS) celebrated 125 years of ministry with the theme Faithful God, Faithful People, Unfinished Task. Throughout our history, we have witnessed God’ s faithfulness expressed through the faithfulness of his people.
From our founders to the present, every generation has faced challenges unique to its time. Wars, economic uncertainty, shifting cultures, closed borders, and countless personal sacrifices have shaped our story. Yet through every season, God has proven himself trustworthy; he has never failed to keep his promises.
That same faithfulness is evident today. Across dozens of countries, thousands of missionaries and ministry partners are proclaiming the Gospel, strengthening churches, discipling believers, and investing in the next generation. Their lives remind us that God’ s work has always advanced through faithful people who simply said yes to his call. He continues to call men and women to respond with courage, obedience, and perseverance.
At the celebration, we also reminded everyone that the task is not yet complete. Millions of people still have little or no opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. The unfinished task remains before us, calling a new generation to pray, give, go, and send.
Remembering God’ s faithfulness is never just an invitation to nostalgia but to renewed confidence. The God who called those who came before us is the same God who still calls his people today. He continues to open doors, prepare hearts, and invite ordinary believers to participate in his global mission.
As we begin the next chapter of OMS, our prayer is that each of us will ask a simple question: Lord, what are you asking of me? Because God is faithful, we can move forward with courage. And as faithful people, may we embrace the unfinished task until every nation has the opportunity to hear the hope of Christ.
