very moment lost can never be regained. It is a well-known fac that
time is a thief. The media stresses on “living in the moment,” or the
famous motto “YOLO.” This is evident through music, movies, TV shows,
video games and even fashion, with shirts conveying this theme at Urban Planet, Forever 21, and H&M. When you’re old and wrinkly, what are some of the things you want to look back
on in your life and feel proud of? What are some of the memoirs you replay vividly in your memory as a reminder of
the greatest moments in your life?
When you were younger, what were your earliest memories of what you wanted to be when you grow up? We
were all told at some point that we could become anything we wanted to be. Do you remember wanting to become a firefighter, police officer, sports star, ballerina, fashion model, teacher, scientist, or even a dog-walker?
I remember my earliest occupation as a vendor who sold lemonade for 25 cents a glass and hot dogs by the
street, thanks to Max and Ruby. My family all tease me about that to this day because it is quite contrary now
to my goal of becoming a paediatric neurosurgeon. Looking back at my very first idea of becoming a vendor, it
makes me laugh because it reminds me of the greatest joy a child has in the power to imagine and dream. We all
have dreams, goals, and aspirations. Things we want to accomplish and become before we die. These things can
be accomplished starting now.
I want to remind you again that it’s never too late to become what you might’ve been, and that you can become
anything you want to be. Of course, it’s not going to be a road that is smooth-sailing all the time. There will be
setbacks, storms, bumps, and thorns on that windy path in your life, but God promises to give you the desires of
your heart once you delight in Him (Psalm 37:4), and will help you become what you want to be in His will—all you
have to do is trust Him.
So begin climbing up the ladder of success today, right now. Seize this day and make it a productive one. Don’t
waste a single second of it. Build your future with God as the cornerstone, and you will move mountains. Your life
will be a living testimony to the power God can harness in our lives if we let Him.
