CDU celebrated GivingTuesday , a national event where people around the world use their individual power of generosity to support their communities .
“ What excites me most about GivingTuesday is the opportunity for faculty , staff , students , and alumni to participate in a real way amongst every other charity ,” said Andreh Khatchaturains , Executive Director for Development and Alumni Relations .
Thanks to the support from the CDU community , the event surpassed the original fundraising goal of $ 5,000 by raising over $ 12,000 so far .
The proceeds from GivingTuesday will go towards CDU ’ s Mission Maker Fund . This unrestricted fund helps the campus with priorities and initiatives that are not funded by tuition and / or operational funds that are uncommitted .

Demolition at Lincoln Elementary Commences
The demolition of former Lincoln Elementary School has commenced , as part of The Wellness Campus — the proposed plan to expand the CDU campus onto the 12.8-acre site .
The project site will be transformed into a safe , vibrant , transit-oriented , health , education , and wellness campus for the Willowbrook and surrounding communities .
The project is initially proposed to include elements of affordable and senior housing for the community , as well as dormitory options for CDU students and workforce housing .
Community-serving program space and commercial retail are also part of the vision .
Also planned is enhanced pedestrian access to the Transit Center , along with athletic facilities and 700 + additional parking spaces to accommodate CDU ’ s growing population .
