CON Students Present Research During Poster Session
The School of Nursing and Urban Health Institute ( UHI ) hosted the Bachelor ’ s of Science in Nursing Research Poster Session . Eleven BSN Cohort 1 students showcased the research projects being worked on in their Nursing Research course during the semester .
“ The event was a great success and demonstrated the importance of collaboration between the CON and the UHI in advancing the field of nursing ,” said Caroline Farodolu , UHI Interim Director . “ We look forward to seeing the continued success of the BSN students and the impact they will make in the field of nursing .”
The research poster session provided an opportunity for BSN students to apply their learning to real-world scenarios , develop research skills , and explore potential areas of interest for their future careers . Students conducted their research with mentorship from their instructor , Stella Turkson .
“ It was an enriching experience being their mentor ,” said Turkson .
“ Their continued dedication and improvement was evident during their poster presentations . I believe the students have learned and enjoyed this process more than they even thought they would .”
Topics of research included “ Mental Health Disparities in Black Men - Utilization of Mental Health Services ,” “ Factors Influencing Effective Pressure Injury Management in Clinical Practice ,” and “ Cervical Cancer Screening in Nigerian Women - A Study Review .”
