International Representatives Visit CDU Campus
CDU hosted a range of international visitors on campus to connect with students , faculty , staff , and the CDU community over two days .
The first event , part of the Diplomats on Global Health Disparities Series , featured Alejandro García del Toro , Deputy Chief of the Embassy of Cuba , and Javier Levy Hernández , First Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba .
That event , hosted by the Office of International Affairs in partnership with the International Society of Black Latinos and Beyond Cuba Travel , allowed the CDU community to learn about the health disparities in Cuba , the US-Cuba relations , and opportunities for students to get involved in our work in Cuba .
“ We recognize and respect Cuba ’ s well-known excellence in the healthcare areas , despite the limitations that have been imposed on them ,” said General Counsel John Patton . “ I don ’ t know why but some people specialize in building walls and other people specialize in building bridges . If you will help us , we ’ ll build a bridge to you from our end and you can build it from your end , and we ’ ll meet in the middle .”
The next day CDU hosted eight representatives from Honduras ,
Nicaragua , Panama , Venezuela , and El Salvador . The delegates , who were participants of the Department of State ’ s International Visitor Leadership Program , consisted of academic officials and educators .
They toured the campus and spoke with students about their international and academic journeys .
CDU was one of the many stops they made across the country . CDU hosted the visitors in collaboration with the “ Higher Education in the United States : Innovation and Opportunities for Partnership ” program by International Citizen Diplomacy of Los Angeles .
