In Memoriam : Dr . Wilbert C . Jordan

It is with great sadness that CDU announces the passing of Dr . Wilbert C . Jordan , CDU Professor Emeritus and founder of the OASIS Clinic . Dr . Jordan was well known , loved , and respected in the HIV community worldwide . He was a giant in this field and worked unapologetically to improve the lives of those living with HIV in South LA and beyond .
Dr . Jordan was dedicated to addressing the socioeconomic and health disparities that affect our communities . He uplifted the rights of patients and challenged the systems that disengaged them . He was the ultimate professional educator , committed to training medical providers and students in the field of HIV and building a well educated workforce of Black providers . Many of us have learned and benefited from his wisdom ; his impact will be felt for years to come . We are grateful for the legacy he built and must continue in his honor towards Ending the HIV Epidemic .
CDU extends our deepest condolences to his family and the community who were impacted by his compassionate work ! Next month ’ s issue of CDU News will include a recap from a special memorial ceremony taking place on campus .
