REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS MARCH
The Social Justice Society ( SJS ), a CDU student group , held a Reproductive Rights March on campus during July 2022 . The mission of the event was to shed light on the injustices faced by women in health care access in the shadow of the Supreme Court ’ s recent decision to overturn Roe v . Wade .
13TH ANNUAL LET ’ S MOVE EVENT
PIPELINE AND SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMS
CDU ’ s Department of Pipeline and School Partnership Programs held the 13 th Annual Let ’ s Move event on campus . The annual event aims to support students and their parents by encouraging them to be more physically active and advocates for making healthy , affordable food available in every community .
31 ST ANNUAL EMPOWERMENT CONGRESS
A LEADERSHIP SUMMIT IN TIMES OF CIVIC CRISIS - HARD TRUTHS , INTEGRITY , AND RECONCILIATION
The 31st Annual Empowerment Congress was held on CDU ’ s campus during Martin Luther King , Jr . weekend and attracted a powerful lineup of speakers and attendees for the gathering . The summit , “ A Leadership Summit in Times of Civic Crisis - Hard Truths , Integrity , and Reconciliation ,” featured a range of speakers followed by a selection of workshops that engaged constituents and stakeholders in critical conversations around inclusive leadership , financial empowerment , charter reform , and homelessness .
CDU AWARDED GRANT
$ 1.1 MILLION TO SUPPORT OPERATIONS
CDU was awarded approximately $ 1.1 million to support the operation of the CDU Kedren Mobile Street Medicine Program . The funding was determined following a community-wide voting period where area residents were invited to review and vote on the various proposals under consideration in three areas known as REPAIR Zones : Boyle Heights , Southeast LA and Mission Hills-Panorama City-North Hills .

HOSTED A WEEKLY HEALTH FAIR
The Mervyn M . Dymally College of Nursing ’ s Bachelor of Science in Nursing ’ s Cohort 1 hosted a weekly health fair on campus over several months aimed to encourage healthy lifestyles , prevent and manage disease , and connect patients to the right resources . The students who staffed the fair provided free services such as blood pressure checks , body mass index evaluations , nutrition information , stress management and weight management tips , and information on COVID-19 testing and vaccines .
CDU PIPELINE PROGRAM
23RD ANNUAL JUNIOR WHITE COAT CEREMONY
CDU Pipeline Program held the 23rd Annual Junior White Coat Ceremony for graduating Saturday Science Academy II ( SSAII ) students and their families . Students received a certificate of completion for the Winter session – with many of those students completing three consecutive SSAII sessions to receive a doctor ’ s “ white coat ” to signal and inspire their commitment to lifelong learning . This year ’ s theme was “ Our Future in STEMM is Golden .”
