CDU IS EXPANDING
APPROVAL OF LAND LEASE AGREEMENT
CDU was granted unanimous approval by the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors on a ground lease agreement for a parcel of land adjacent to the CDU campus . The move is a big step toward opening a state-of-the-art Health Professions Education Building on the CDU campus in the heart of South Los Angeles . The proposed 4-story structure will provide a much-needed room for the University ' s new and growing programs and will be the home for the CDU 4-Year Medical Degree Program .
LIBRARY IMPROVEMENTS
CDU HEALTH SCIENCES LIBRARY
In January 2023 , the CDU Health Sciences Library , supported by Federal Title III grant funds , revealed a substantial upgrade to its facilities . The transformation converted the previously underutilized bound journal section into a dynamic study hub featuring 10 new study rooms and upgraded LED lighting . This renovation was driven by a clear goal : to expand the availability of group study spaces for CDU students , fostering an environment of collaboration and providing access to technology-enhanced rooms for their meetings .
HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE
COMMUNITY INPUT FOR THE FORMER SITE OF LINCOLN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Friends and neighbors came together for a special event in July 2022 to provide community input on proposed plans to expand the CDU campus onto the 12.8-acre former site of Lincoln Elementary School . The site is located just north of the current campus across 118th street and adjacent to the parking structure . Initial ideas for the new campus expansion were presented to attendees , then breakout groups were created so residents could delve deeper into different aspects of the plan , provide their own suggestions , and help shape the future of the site .
