CDU RANKED IN THE TOP 50
BEST UNIVERSITIES FOR A BACHELOR ’ S DEGREE
CDU was named one of the top colleges whose graduates go on to earn the most , according to Payscale ’ s updated College Salary Report . The University ranked in the top 50 at # 48 for “ Best Universities for a Bachelor ’ s Degree ” for students who enter the workforce with an undergraduate degree . CDU also ranked in the top 100 for highest career earnings at # 70 for undergraduate alumni overall , including those who went on to earn another degree from any school . The report ranked more than 1500 schools with CDU coming out on top of other notable universities .
CONGRESSWOMAN BARRAGÁN
VISITS CAMPUS TO PRESENT H . R . 189
Congresswoman Nanette Barragán visited campus to present the H . R . 189 - John Lewis National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities ( NIMHD ) Research Endowment Revitalization Act of 2021 . The bill , which is Congresswoman Barragán ' s first standalone bill , allows for current and former NIMHD centers of excellence to receive research endowment funding to promote minority health and health disparities in research , increase diversity in a scientific and healthcare workforce , and improve recruitment and retention of individuals from communities underrepresented in a scientific workforce .

ADDRESSING CRITICAL ISSUES IN HEALTHCARE
Throughout the academic year , Dr . David M . Carlisle , President and CEO of Charles R . Drew University of Medicine and Science ( CDU ), has demonstrated exceptional leadership and advocacy in addressing critical issues in healthcare affordability , workforce diversity , and health equity .
In September 2022 , Dr . Carlisle joined a special panel hosted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention during their HBCU Week celebration .
In March 2023 , Dr . Carlisle was appointed to the State of California ' s Health Care Affordability Board , a newly-formed entity within the Office of Health Care Affordability .
In May 2023 , Dr . Carlisle participated in a U . S . Senate Committee on Health , Education , Labor and Pensions ( HELP ) Field Roundtable in Atlanta , discussing strategies to improve workforce diversity and address shortages in the medical field . Invited by U . S . Senator Bernie Sanders , Dr . Carlisle highlighted the unique role Historically Black Medical Schools play in training diverse healthcare professionals .
COVID-19 TESTING STAFF
RECOGNITION OF THE TIRELESS EFFORTS
A farewell luncheon was organized as a well-deserved recognition of the tireless efforts and commitment demonstrated by the testing staff in safeguarding the health and well-being of the CDU community throughout the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic . While COVID-19 testing will no longer be required for campus access , CDU continues to encourage individuals to stay vigilant and practice recommended health and safety measures .
HEALTH RESOURCES AND SERVICES ADMINISTRATION
ADMINISTRATOR JOHNSON ANNOUNCED A FIVE-YEAR , $ 2.5 MILLION GRANT
CDU was visited by Administrator Carole Johnson of the Health Resources and Services Administration ( HRSA ), a unit of the United States Department of Health and Human Services . Administrator Johnson announced a five-year , $ 2.5 million grant for the university in support of integrating mental health care into primary care training .
