WINNER: Cut & Fill – Sneydes
Road Interchange, Werribee
The Sneydes Road Interchange project
involved the design and construction of a
new bridge and diamond interchange over
the Princes Freeway at Werribee. Cut and
Fill redesigned 5-metre V-shaped raking
piers as an alternative to constructing a
diaphragm on the central pier. A flexible
girder wall formwork system was used to
build the piers, and reinforced earth wall
abutments were constructed featuring
interlocking segmented panels. Demolition
of the existing Sneydes Road Bridge was
completed throughout a 12 hour night shift
freeway closure.
