Airport Upgrade Stage 2
Stage 2 of the Bendigo Airport Upgrade
project involved the construction and
commissioning of a new 1700m long
17/35 runway, one low strength and two
high-strength taxiways and a passenger
transport apron extension. BMD reduced and
optimised the original number of construction
and staging plans, modified stabilisation
treatments and pavement design, and
generated efficiencies with bitumen
prime application. City of Greater Bendigo
subsequently requested BMD to construct
an additional taxiway at the southern end
of the runway. The airport is now capable of
accommodating passenger and freight loads
higher than originally anticipated.
