WINNER: MAW Civil
Marine - Sorrento Step Wall
and Rock Revetment
The appearance of sinkholes next to the
old timber seawall in Sorrento signalled
the end of its serviceable life. MAW Civil
Marine constructed a rock revetment and
terraced step wall to disperse wave energy
and subsequent erosion potential to the
shoreline. Individual blocks were hand cut
to size and sequenced to allow for a 15
metre extension along the southern terrace.
Heritage items such as original seawall
bollards were restored and reincorporated
into the finished project.
