Saleen Automotive Builds One of the Fastest Police Supercars Ever

The US based supercar manufacturer, Saleen Automotive, has recently built a high-performance Special Edition sports car, dubbed the Saleen Mustang, for the Riverside Police Department located in Riverside, California.

The CEO of Saleen Automotive, Steve Saleen, personally delivered the Special Edition police vehicle, at an event held last month, to the Riverside Police Officers' Association, which represents the California Riverside Police Department's Detectives, frontline Officers and Police Sergeants.

The powerful machine, that looks like something out of a Transformers movie, started its life as a 5.0-litre V-8 Ford Mustang. However, Saleen’s tuner managed to turn it into a Saleen 302 Black Label patrol car, and the company’s mechanics painted it with traditional black and white police colours. The resulting Saleen Mustang boasts a range of new technological features under its hood, starting with its unique engine that’s powered using a twin-screw supercharger, which also comes with its own, one of a kind, exhaust system. The car has a fully revamped new suspension system that gives it the ability to handle extreme cornering and also comes with Saleen’s massive breaks, which offers better handling and an exceptionally short braking distance.

The interior of this car is fitted with Saleen gauges and essential police equipment. It also includes full police lighting that’s built right into the cockpit in order to improve its outer aerodynamics.

The car shouldn’t have any trouble catching up with would-be criminals in a high speed pursuit, thanks to its supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine that’s capable of producing 730hp and 600 lb-ft of torque. Nevertheless, the Saleen Mustang might not see much action, as it is expected to be used as a Line of Duty Death memorial vehicle for the Riverside Police Department.
