Monica Burich is currently a freshman and basketball player at the university of Colorado Boulder. In an interview with Jesse Galloway, a fellow UC Boulder student, Monica discusses the issues and injustices she observes and faces in college athletics. Burich believes that there are different standards held between guys and girls sports: physical appearance being a prevalent example. Burich explains that no player on the women’s basketball team is allowed to show tattoos while in uniform. If they are on their arms, they must wear sleeves that can completely cover the tattoos. Contrarily, the male basketball team is allowed to get and display tattoos without protest.
