Commissioning the work
A renowned composer and writer are commissioned to produce the work 3 years before
its premiere.
It is a very specific commission, as both the musical and literary aspects must serve the
objectives of the activity, the needs and abilities of the singers that will perform it and the
circumstances of our schools.
CD recording
One year before the premiere, a CD of the work is recorded, which is indispensable
material for the work of the teaching staff in class throughout the year. The CD contains the
cantata just as it will sound on the stage, as well as the instrumental version so that each
child can enjoy singing it with an accompaniment.
We record the work in Catalan and in Spanish to make it easier to work with in all
educational communities and to bring each singer as close as possible to the work of art
they will be intimately involved with for the rest of their life.
Training sessions for teaching staff
To carry out the activity, the music teachers from the schools involved must attend 3
training sessions: October, January and February. They are arranged during school hours
so that the schools are involved in the activity and little by little Cantania also contributes to
music being valued more and more in those educational establishments.
The sessions focus on the repertoire, direction, voice, teaching, etc., as well as the whole
logistical and staging aspect.
Using the materials and resources that make up the training sessions, the teachers work
in their schools throughout the year until the day of the concert.
