Begging for spare change outside liquor stores was not uncommon for Dion. He truly felt there was no hope and feared that one day he would eventually be killed or would die alone in the streets. By the time he was 40 years old, he managed to also become addicted to meth. Weighing 113lbs on his 40th birthday, only then he decided and had the will to live again. Begging the Mighty God to give him the strength to finally get up, determined to fight for his life, he left Moncton, NB to relocate to Miramichi to live with his parents. This gave him a chance to redeem himself and get his life back on track, his parents welcomed him But at the age of 34, his road to rock bottom began after being asked to leave a long-term relationship due to his alcohol abuse. This only spiraled him further out of control. He lost everything within 6 months; his gym, his family and his friends. Most days he didn’t want to wake up or live. So, for 6 years, he spent most of his life on the streets and in the bars. In and out of jail, rehab, hospitals, churches, ideally, those were his regular hangouts with many cold nights...sick and hungry. He was destroying himself, inside and out and this disease of his addiction was taking over. with open arms.
