THE NEXT
CHAPTER
Years of working with physical
therapists and kinesiologists led
to Shawn finally being able to
pull himself up and regain some
movement in his legs. Some of
his therapy included swimming
and horseback riding. Shawn
made sure to tell me that there
was a weight limitation for the
horseback riding and because
he hated horses, he made sure
he was eating enough to be
overweight.
Eventually, Shawn was able to
walk well enough to the point
where he could go to the gym 3
times per week with his
kinesiologist. He was
determined to become
independent. He worked to
build muscle, which helped
greatly with his balance and
strength. By 2013 he joined
Gold’s Gym in Langley, BC and
was training on his own. This is
where our story begins...
I remember the first time I met
Shawn and was so impressed
with him. He showed up every
single day and just went to
work. From what he tells me, it
was a bet from a friend in 2014
that had him approach me for
help.
