Post surgery, Shawn
entered a 6-week coma
where his parents were
told that he may never
wake up and if he did,
he would never walk, eat
on his own, or speak.
Well… Shawn did wake
up and he could not
walk, talk, or eat. Shawn
spent a total of 9
months between
hospitals and rehab
centres. He had a
tracheal tube in his
throat for 5 months after
he woke up as he could
not breathe on his own.
He had a feeding tube
until 2004 because he
could not eat on his
own. He worked with
speech therapists and
also had to relearn how
to write.
