consistent discomfort and
constant internal bleeding.
Battling Crohn's and
managing numerous
recoveries from breast
reconstructive surgery each
and every year from 2012 to
2015 was taking a toll on her
body.
Taking a hiatus from
competing was imperative
for her to get a handle on
Crohn's and her overall
health. She spent her time
doing her own research,
many doctors visits, many
more doctor arguments,
blood transfusions, trying
different foods, and more.
Through this all, she never
stopped training and finally
made it into remission.
Tamen felt her competitive
clock ticking: she felt the
need to take advantage of
remission and get back on
stage. She hired Coach
Shelby Starnes in December
2017 and made her
competitive plans. Her goal
was to get some
