Pro hardware this round as she
suspected it may be her finale
into retirement. 3 weeks before
North Carolina, Crohn's hit her -
and hit her hard. Her diet had
to be overhauled to
accommodate for food
sensitivities that would
exasperate her symptoms. She
suffered! We all understand
fatigue during prep, but all of
that was magnified by Crohn's
rearing its head, reminding her
of its presence. Again, she
persevered and did not
complain. She went into it
knowing that it may be an
outcome, but was fully
committed to North Carolina
and Toronto, with the hopes of
Vancouver. She invested too
much time, had too much
support, and an incredible
sponsorship from JV Drivers
that she wanted to uphold.
She achieved her goal in North
Carolina, winning the Masters
Figure class. Hardware in hand,
she turned her sights on
Toronto, knowing that
Vancouver was falling into the
distance. Her mindset shifted in
Toronto. She knew it was likely
her last time on stage, so she
took in every single minute of
that weekend.

She embraced it: staring out into the
audience a little longer, feeling the
lights on her a little stronger, spent
more time with her peers than typical,
making a point of wishing more luck.
She took it all in like a slow deep
breath. Like with her first figure
competition, she lost her competition
button. She reminisced on the
similarity she felt - a positive sense of
closure as she left the stage for the
last time.
