Having placed 14th out of
28, boasting bigger delts
then all the other girls, she
knew Figure was the division
she needed to pursue.
She took a couple years to
develop herself, taking the
leap at Northern Alberta’s
2012. She lost her button
and forgot her heels. Luckily
there was a volunteer (me)
who got her hooked up with
a button and borrowed
shoes.
I personally have no
recollection of this, not
knowing who she was at the
time, but find it rather
fortuitous given our
relationship 6 years later.
She swept her division, won
her class, and the overall,
leading her straight to 2nd
place at Provincials in her
class. Next stop, a 5th place
at Nationals. A stellar debut
year in figure, not only as an
athlete, but having met her
future husband who was
instrumental in supporting
her in the following years.
2013 was her year! She tied
2nd at Nationals and when
the tie was broken, landed
in 3rd. That did not deter
her. North Americans was
next and she walked away
with her Pro Card! To this
day, she feels that was her
all-time best physique.
This is where her health took
a turn. Crohn's symptoms
began to creep in on her in
2014. Unaware of what was
truly going on, she
persevered. She competed,
making her Pro debut in
Pittsburgh, then New York,
and concluded her 2014
competitive year in San
Diego, all while trying to
mitigate the symptoms of
Crohn's. Dealing with the
culture shock of being a
small fish in a big pond of
IFBB Pros and coming off
the high of being the best in
Canada, she finally was
diagnosed in 2015 - but that
didn’t stop her. She headed
to the UK, then Dallas, and
then Toronto. Although she
was suffering, she started to
place in the range of 9th to
14th. She was sick the entire
time, dealing with
