It all started when Tamen
moved to Edmonton
from BC at the age of 18.
Pulled away from her
beloved water sports and
ballet, she needed an
outlet. Her Dad
recognized this and took
her shopping at Muscle
Beach for a couple gym
outfits and showed her
around at the local St.
Albert gym.  She was
hooked and never looked
back!
Fuelled by the look on the
pages of Oxygen
Magazine, she aspired to
look the same way.
Tamen put in her time
and was committed to
consistent training. Fast
forward to 2010, the year
the bikini division
debuted, she did her very
first bikini competition:
Northern’s, a regional
competition in Alberta.
She dieted by herself and
laughed when she told 
me this: and showed me
a picture rocking out on a
houseboat one week
before show day. To this
day, she still has no clue
how she managed to
apply her own tan and
get coverage on her back.
No one knew she was
competing, no one was
invited. She wanted to
feel out this whole
