World Languages French
Course Name: French I Course Number: 6 0. 0 1 1 0 0 1 1
Description: This course is an introduction to the language and culture of France and other Frenchspeaking countries. The course will enable students to attain a beginner’ s level of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with an emphasis on oral proficiency.
Course Name: Pre-IB French I / II Course Number: 6 0. 0 1 1 0 0 8 7 OR 6 0. 0 1 2 0 0 8 7
Description: This course develops students’ oral and written language proficiency with a strong emphasis on oral communication in preparation for the IB Internal Assessment, Paper 1, and Paper 2. Across these courses, students build and strengthen interpersonal communication skills while expanding and deepening their understanding of the culture of the French-speaking world. Students MUST be accepted into the IB Program. Students can earn an additional 0.5 quality points towards their GPA for Pre-IB French II.

Description: This course is designed to introduce the Japanese language; it emphasizes all skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing in an integrated way. Includes how to greet and take leave of someone, to ask and respond to back questions, to speak and read within a range of carefully selected topics and to develop an understanding of Japanese culture.

Description: This course is designed for heritage learners of Spanish, this course can accommodate students from a wide range of backgrounds, from those who are minimally functional( can comprehend Spanish but are not able to speak fluently, read or write) to those who are more proficient and / or literate in Spanish. This course focuses on the development of communicative competence in reading, writing, speaking and listening and viewing, as well as on understanding Hispanic cultures and issues of identity of heritage speakers of Spanish in the United States. Students will also develop an awareness and understanding of Hispanic cultures, including language variation, customs, geography, history, and current events.
