Description: This course is an introduction to the language and culture of the Spanish-speaking countries. This course is the foundation for students to begin developing proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Development of these four skills will occur in a curriculum that emphasizes the foreign language content standards of communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and communities.
Course Name: Spanish II Course Number: 6 0. 0 7 2 0 0 1 1 Prerequisites: MS-HS Spanish I( 70 %+)
Description: This course is a continuation of the study of the language and culture of the Spanish-speaking world. The student will acquire a basic command of key vocabulary / grammatical structures necessary for limited personal communication and an appreciation of diversity in the Spanish-speaking world. The course strives to help the learner acquire knowledge of the language and proficiency by integrating the four skills of listening, speaking, writing, and reading. * NOTE: Students who are unsure about whether to select Spanish II or Honors Spanish II should discuss the course with their current Spanish teacher and have their Spanish I teacher initial their elective sheet.

Prerequisites: MS-HS Spanish I( 85 %+)
Description: This course is designed for the student who has demonstrated superior facility in foreign language and offers a variety of opportunities for enrichment and oral work. The goal for certain grammatical functions will be full control rather than partial control. Students earn an additional 0.5 quality point towards their GPA for this course. * NOTE: Students who are unsure about whether to select Spanish II or Honors Spanish II should discuss the course with their current Spanish teacher and have their Spanish I teacher initial their elective sheet.
Course Name: Pre-IB Spanish II
Course Number: 6 0. 0 7 2 0 0 8 7
Description: This course develops students’ oral and written language proficiency with a strong emphasis on oral communication in preparation for the IB Internal Assessment, Paper 1, and Paper 2. Across these courses, students build and strengthen interpersonal communication skills while expanding and deepening their understanding of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Students MUST be accepted into the IB Program. Students earn an additional 0.5 quality point towards their GPA for this course.
