CAMPAIGNING RULES
GENERAL RULES
Candidates must follow all rules and procedures as outlined by both Indiana University and the NJCL Constitution and Bylaws. No stickers, glitter, body paint, or sidewalk chalk allowed. You, as a candidate, are representing yourself and your State, so conduct yourself appropriately.
A NOTE ON ARTIFICIAL
INTELLIGENCE( AI)
We, as the NJCL Board, recognize the utility AI may provide, and, due to the near impossibility to enforce otherwise, candidates are allowed to use AI to help them in their campaigns. Candidates, however, cannot use AI to perform prohibited actions like pre-campaigning or campaigning against another candidate.
SPENDING LIMIT
Candidates are only allowed a maximum of $ 50 to spend on campaign materials. Candidates should preserve ALL RECEIPTS for their materials and present them to the Parliamentarian after the Nominations Committee. Failure to do so may cause a candidate to be disqualified from running. For flyers and printed pages, they should be priced at $ 0.10 per black and white copy and $ 0.20 per color copy. The prices of common materials( e. g. tape, pencils) may be neglected, but add the standard retail prices of other already owned materials to your total costs. Finally, if campaign material costs are a burden for you in any way, don’ t hesitate to reach out to parliamentarian @ njcl. org and constitution @ njcl. org.
