TLDR: CAMPAIGNING TIPS FOR SUCCESS
BEFORE CONVENTION First, decide who will do what. Don’ t be afraid to ask your state delegation for help making posters or spreading your name. Start early! Don’ t leave writing your speech to the last minute. Prepare your campaign materials in advance and practice your speech. Bring formal apparel, for when you are on stage, and to help you stand out when campaigning! Finally, don’ t hesitate to reach out to parliamentarian @ njcl. org or constitution @ njcl. org if you are confused or need help.
AT CONVENTION
Once you get to Convention, make a schedule. In your spare time, stop by the Agora, dining hall, or walk around campus spreading your name. However, give yourself time to compete, or, if you’ re an introvert like me, to spend some time alone or with close friends. You don’ t always have to be campaigning. Talk to your State. Make sure you have a support network to drop back on in case you need more materials or can’ t attend a certain event. Finally, have fun! You are only at Convention one out of every 52 weeks in a year, and this may be your one chance to campaign! Make the most of this unique and cool experience.
