HOW TO PREPARE- MATERIALS
Physical materials: I made a couple different posters that Georgia delegates could wear around their neck and walk around convention easily with, a couple half-sheet flyers, and seashell ribbon knot keychains. I had 7 posters, and I made most of them, but my friends helped make two of them. I made these around a month before the convention. The flyers were designed at the beginning of the summer, and the keychains were made in the days leading up to and during convention with help from my family and delegation. Digital materials: I made an Instagram account with my platform details and qualifications as well as a website. Since Instagram accounts can ' t be made public before NomCom, I made the account afterwards, but the posts were designed beforehand. Additionally, my website was made around a month before the convention on Wix. I made these by myself. The speech: It took me on and off around an hour to write my campaign speech. The nights before my speeches, I would practice in front of my delegation and get some final flow edits. The way my speeches were structured was first with my qualifications as a candidate and then my platform. I did have to cut down on my qualifications because of time constraints and I believed that the information on the contents of my campaign were most important. When crafting your speech it ' s essential to not put down the other candidates, but highlight why you are the best candidate with specific details to make you stand out.
CAMPAIGN ANALYSIS
Campaigning at Nationals: At Nationals I campaigned at all the times I could after NomCom: during walks to GA, mixers, meals, and the bazaar( agora). I used a lot of puns because my campaign acronym was SEA which made me more memorable. Looking for state officers specifically was a strategy I used, but I still made sure to talk to just regular delegates as well. I would also have a couple of the Georgia delegates wear posters and hand out fliers to get my name around. Favorite part of campaigning: One of my favorite moments campaigning was going to the art viewing periods and asking people to show me their art submissions. I then met up with a Georgia delegate who had written a rap about me that she performed in the building to other delegates from a variety of states. What you did well: I think I did a great job of campaigning to a variety of states and preparing myself for events. What you could have improved: I wish I had finished making my physical campaign materials much earlier since I was still making those during the convention which was a bit stressful.
