Campaign Analysis

What was your favorite part of campaigning ?
Talking to everyone ! I think it was extremely humbling and exciting that no matter where I went , people for the most part would recognize me and ask me about my campaign . During events such as the Nominations Committee , I was able to let many people know who I am as a person and how I want to use my term .
What would you have done differently ?
I wish I made large posters . In my campaign , I handed out pamphlets with a QR code to my website on them ; however , during Meet the Candidates , I was one of the few people without large form campaign materials . Having one or two large posters can make it easier for people to learn more about your campaign .
What tips do you have for speaking to people and / or giving your speeches ?
There are two main things that someone should know when giving a speech ( especially at GA ’ s ). The GA with all the speeches can tend to be boring for a lot of people in the crowd , so make sure you engage the audience ! Make yourself sound confident , but also someone that people can rely on and ask questions to . Additionally , make sure you speak slow and clearly . This is something I struggle with a lot . It can be nerve wracking to speak to that many people , but you ’ re up there to speak , and the JCL is there to listen . Therefore , make sure they can listen . At times you may think that you ’ re going excruciatingly slow , but you ’ re not . Trust the process and you ’ ll do great .
If nothing else , what tip should they take away ?
Having people campaign outside is great , however people want to see you campaign as well . Make sure that you talk to as many people as you possibly can . It shows your enthusiasm and excitement for the JCL , and it shows the students that you are dedicated to campaigning . You should spend as much time as possible campaigning with people , or by yourself .
