Section 5 . Removal from Office .
The grounds for removal of an officer shall be the infraction of the convention rules and / or serious negligence in the discharge of the duties of the office .
A .
Removal Prior to Convention . A resolution by the National Committee to consider the removal of an officer may be introduced by any member of the Board of Directors or by a petition bearing the signatures of the officers of at least three State chapters . If the resolution should be adopted by the National Committee , the sponsor of the officer in question may guarantee that the officer may provide adequate defense by teleconference , mail , or in person to the National Committee . No vote on the resolution may be taken until the sponsor of the officer in question is satisfied that the officer in question has provided an adequate defense . A two-thirds vote of the National Committee shall be necessary to remove the officer . The procedure for the removal of an officer shall not exceed 30 days from the time of the resolution unless a delay is deemed necessary by the Board of Directors . Should an officer be removed for disciplinary reasons , the National Committee may vote to bar the officer from holding NJCL office in the future .
Section 6 . Office Holding Limitations .
No member shall hold an office in their State ’ s JCL at the same time as serving as an NJCL officer . Should they be holding an office in their State at the time of their election to NJCL office , they must resign immediately , and , within one month of the officer ’ s resignation , the officer ’ s State Chair ( s ) shall notify the Chairperson of the National Committee in writing of this resignation .
