While straightening the river bed, the bank line was fortified with stone. There was even a cobblestoned road there; so, excursion skiffs were pulled by horses up the river. That was not an unusual innovation for those times; hence the count had an opportunity to follow the development in tourism in Vienna and Berlin. Let’s remember that the Berlin Union of Oarsmen was founded in the Year 1896; and, most likely, that was not a unique event at that period. In two-three hours after the start (that, partially, depends upon the resolution of paddlers as well as (to a larger extend, upon the speed of flow), we will get to the place, where the Verynsky stream falls into the river (that is on the left above the island), and moving further, we can get to Veryn nature reserve, which is a very good place to halt for lunch. Another two-three hours of unhurried movement, and we are back to the camp in the village of Berezyna. Of course, passing the rift will add some adrenaline to our experience. It is worthwhile to spend the rest of the day doing necessary works at the camp area. As far as camping is concerned, it is worth noting the following: first of all, making a stationary camp will provide you with more comfort. Also, since it is not easy to get fire-wood, we will use gas burners. A dug-pit will be used as a toilet. In addition, please note: there can be steady rains; so, it is worthwhile to set up tents around the camp area. The water level never rises at a rate higher than 20 sm/h, even in case of heavy rains; thus, there is no real risk that the camp area can be flooded. However, while setting up tents, one should pay attention to avoid pitches, which can collect rainfall. Among other issues related to camping, one should consider the issue of making the storage of drinking water; especially, if your group plans to make a camp in different places. And my personal request to all the groups that will make this trip: please, do not leave garbage behind, and also, please, do pick the one left by others. In view of Ukrainian realities, I would recommend to burn garbage, including PET, since, so far, there are no garbage processing facilities of any kind in place. Also, it is highly desirable to move glass away from the site. 5
